For many people who constitute the labor force, time never seem to be enough.
“I have not had a break since the first hour of work; I am yet to finish treating the files before me for the day; I have spent beyond the expected working hour and I am far from finishing the expected task”.
As a
labor provider, you must have had this feeling at some point or the other. This
work-life reality brings a feeling of being inefficient to a concernedlabor provider. This
is because the level at which you are producing service is not satisfactory. However,
in most cases, it is not because you are indolent or lazy; it is because of
your mindset.
Mindset
Mindset simply represents the sub-conscious mental principles that guides and influences your attitude to things. Having the right mindset will enhance your productivity.
Being productive
This implies that you are efficient. You have a clearly defined goal and you articulate your resources: time and energy to the achievement of such in the best way possible.
Every good thing that will be sustained or preservedmust start with a good mindset. It is not out of place to emphasize that your mindset determines your measure of active productiveness.
So, how can you create a productive mindset?
A
productive mindset is a positive mindset which sees possibility in every task.
It is surprising that a larger percentage of people have had their dreams repelled by the likely difficulties that surround or that will surround their mission. Somehow, from the moment of conceiving their goals, they have pre-occupied themselves with the obstacles to the successful completion of those tasks. Consequently, while some never advance to do the task even though they proposed to do itinitially, others attempt the task but fail at it because something keeps ringing in their sub-conscious that they cannot get it done. So, develop an optimistic attitude towards every vision and the mission attached to it.
Be
self-motivated
Tasks cannot get themselves done; human beings or machines automated by human beings must get them done. This means that you must be able to encourage yourself to do the needed task. Many people cannot move except someone moves them. This inhibits productivity even in team work. So, to get a work done, you need to keep motivating yourself by assuring yourself of the benefits or advantage you stand to get by finishing the task. Many times, the notion of rewards helps keep your work-spirit alive, so if you need to attach self reward to your motivation, kindly do.
A
productive person has foresight.
Also, a productive person is able to peep into the future of a given task. He is able to identify the reasons why a particular task is important, what is required of him to get it done, when it will be due such that it will not intrude into other tasks. Ability to do this gives you an overview into the task even before you even start it.
Have an
outline of your activities.
Productive individuals have a grasp of their time. They have their task broken into pieces that time can contain and then, they begin to address the broken pieces one after the other. For instance, someone can decide to produce a fifty (50) pages report in five (5) days by spending three (3) hours (5-8pm) each day writing ten (10) pages. This means that out of twenty fours (24) hours of each next five days is dedicated to finishing that task.
Be
focused.
One other failure that people make is to try doing many things at a time. In the long run, many jobs are left uncompleted or undone at all. It is better to bite just as much as you can chew per every given time. That way, you increase your efficiency at work.
